Amazon has just rolled out a new website, Amazon Wireless! So of course we need to post an Amazon Wireless Review!

Amazon Wireless offers cell phones, service plans, easy rebate redemption, comparison shopping features, and free two day shipping. Amazon has offered cell phones for a long time, but this is the first time they’ve moved into the space so forcefully.

As of right now, there are three providers integrated with Amazon Wireless: Verizon, T-Mobile and AT&T. More, including Sprint, should be added before too long.

“We have taken our eight years’ experience selling cell phones to create a new site that makes a potentially confusing transaction much easier for customers,” said Paul Ryder, vice president of consumer electronics for Amazon.com.

Amazon Wireless Review – Initial Thoughts

First and foremost, wireless plans are getting increasingly complicated and expensive. It’s not like we use our cell phones to just talk anymore! On most of these new smartphones, there are like 7 ways to communicate – text, voice, pbx based (very advanced), through skype, through chat, etc. Having a site to clear up some of the phone selection process will be a huge help.

I don’t know about you, but with all these features, my family plan has increased from $60 or $70 a month to $230 a month! It’s terribly difficult to make any changes too. If you want to add or delete a feature, it takes a trip to the store and an entire afternoon! The store is always packed…

I personally like the idea of a collective website that will allow me to manage my wireless plans…

Amazon Wireless Review: The Good And The Bad

Right now, Amazon Wireless has about 120 phones with more models to be introduced constantly. They also have all of the newest smartphones for feature shoppers and budget concious folks.

The cool thing is that you can shop by carrier, feauture, color, brand or price. In fact, my girlfriend just used Amazon Wireless to find a red phone – her favorite color. For me, I don’t care what color it is as long as it get’s email!

Like Amazon.com, there are all kinds of suggested products, a pretty easy shopping cart, bestseller lists, good product descriptions and lots of videos for the product and features.

Probably the best thing is the step by step sign up or upgrade process. Amazon Wireless really has done their best to streamline the process and make it as easy as possible for first time customers. They’ve also totally cut out all the technical jargon and frustrating rebate paperwork.

Amazon Wireless Review: Final Thoughts

The best part about Amazon Wireless is the ease of use. It doesn’t matter whether you’re thinking about adding a line or upgrading your Blackberry – you’ll find what your looking for at the new site. I highly recommend it!

The first time I saw this device, I have to say I was a little put off. I guess I’m a bit more traditional though. I prefer a nice, clean unit like the next one. That’s just me though!

It sounds like a good deal when you sign up on cell phone family plans. You get shared minutes, shared text, and usually, free mobile to mobile calls. Of course, mobile to mobile means you have to call another phone that uses the same carrier. Verizon cannot call AT&T for free, but Verizon can call Verizon as part of the plan.

What if you call a land line? Watch out cause that might be considered long distance. Family plans are not necessarily bad, but they can be deceiving if you do not make yourself aware of the little things.

Sharing minutes and texts on cell phone family plans means you have a set amount of minutes for all of you to use. If your plan states 750 minutes, everyone on your plan must be conscious of how many minutes have been used.

These days, kids are begging their parents for the newest, most popular touchscreen phones, but are all parents aware of the costs associated with such phones? Families can end up paying twice the amount they thought they would because they do not pay attention to all the fees. Cell phone family plans are shared between family members, but the cost is usually carried by the parents alone.

After getting a Kindle DX, I wanted to write a Kindle DX Review so that you could make an informed decision, before going and buying a Kindle competitor like an Apple Ipad or Sony eReader.

Kindle DX Review – Why I Got One

The Kindle DX is a pretty solid piece of hardware. My wife bought it as a gift for me for a promotion at work, and was pleasantly surprised when I opened up the box.

Her thinking was that I would be traveling more and couldn’t necessarily lug all my books around, paying the crazy baggage fees on the airplanes and such. So with a Kindle DX, I could store all my books in one device and read them on the go.

The other reason she bought it was so I could get a new book no matter where I was. If I was in Chicago on a business trip or hanging out with her in the living room, I could page through a new novel.

Kindle DX Review – Features And Stuff

Kindle DX Review – The Advantages

My #1 advantage to carrying the Kindle DX is the fact that I can cram all of my books on there at once, plus Audible audiobooks, and take notes on them. Those notes can be synced to my computer.

The Kindle DX also handles native PDF’s too – so if you’ve got old ebooks that you want to reread or you buy some sort of PDF, you can read it on your Kindle.

Kindle DX Review – The Disadvantages

Frankly, the Kindle DX doesn’t have many disadvantages that I can see. One might be it’s price. It’s a bit expensive for some people.

The obvious answer is to go with one of the lower priced Kindles that have fewer features but still get the job done very, very well.

Kindle DX Review – The Verdict

I love my Kindle DX and would recommend it to anyone – even if they have an iPad. I wouldn’t travel with out it. In fact, I find that I read more, even at home, because it’s so convenient. In fact, having it makes my wife read more which is awesome for me! I like that she’s reading more because of it.

We’ve all experienced this before. Our cell phone rings. It’s another mobile and we don’t have the name saved in our address book. What do we do? We want to know who called, but there isn’t a wireless phone number search that we can just plug the phone number into… Or is there?

Reverse Mobile is a service that does just that – match up people to their mobile phones. It’s incredibly effective too… It got every one of my tests right, including my two mobiles (with different wireless carriers) and my wives business phone.

Anyway, I wanted to do a more detailed review on Reverse Mobile to show that there really is a wireless phone number search out there!

Reverse Mobile Review – The Service

I guess I don’t really need to tell you why you might want to use Reverse Mobile… Ex girlfriends, telemarketers, debt collectors, lawyers, disgruntled employees… All of these kinds of people can really put a damper on your evening.

That’s where Reverse Mobile can come in. Enter the number that comes up on your caller ID and find out who’s calling. If it’s someone who you’ve had run-ins with in the past, report them to the authorities. If it’s an employee, take it up with them during work hours. But at least you know now who they are are and can take care of their ‘disgruntledness’ on your terms!

Reverse Mobile Review – Is It Easy To Use?

Reverse Mobile is actually exceptionally easy to use. Type in the phone number you want to find the owner of and click search. The website will go in and cross search a bunch of different databases and spit out a result.

Then, it’s up to you to choose what kind of access you want. Basic access is only $14.95. With that, you get one-time access to the name, possible address, county, phone carrier as well as a google map of the location of the address. The Advanced access option for $39.95 will give you access to all the same information but will allow you 1 year of unlimited reverse phone lookups.

Reverse Mobile Review – The Positives

What can I say? Reverse Mobile gives you peace of mind and ease of use. Those two things mean a lot in this day and age. Plus, I don’t know of a more complete wireless phone number search engine…

Reverse Mobile Review – The Negatives

There are some people who openly despise this service because they feel it invades their privacy. My way of looking at it is if they didn’t have anything to hide, they wouldn’t have a problem with it, right? So no, I don’t think there are too many negatives about this service. It keeps people accountable and not hiding behind their cell phone numbers…

Reverse Mobile Review – Summary

I like Reverse Mobile. I tested it on about 7 wireless phone numbers and it performed flawlessly. There might be a couple that it gets wrong here and there, but I’m sure that’s just because of old database records… But if you’re really curious about who’s calling, it’s an awesome service!

There is one very simple reason why I wanted to put together this Cricket Wireless Review… I’ve wasted a lot of money on prepaid cellular providers for my daughter.

I’ve had some great experiences. I’ve had some not-so-great ones. I want to make sure that you have a great experience.

One company I tried out before handing my daughter her cellphone is Cricket Wireless. Honestly, I didn’t expect much. At the time, it was a no-name company that my friend had told me about…

I did a little research and found that Cricket Wireless (aka Leapfrog Wireless) is offering pretty competitive wireless plans to increase their subscriber base and retain some of their older customers… That’s good for you and me, right?

Just recently, prepaid wireless has really caught the attention of the mainstream and the prepaid companies are doing quite a bit to incentivize their customers. People with lower credit scores or no credit history need cell phones! And prepaid is their answer.

The best thing is that these prepaid wireless plans are really cheap and feature rich… Texting. Data. National calling plans. Anymore, they’re a steal!

Ok, so let’s get started with our Cricket Wireless Review…

Cricket Wireless Review – Advantages

Cricket Wireless offers flat rate plans with unlimited calling. You don’t have to sign any contract at all… There are also a ton of features and benefits like data, text, pictures and all that other stuff. The prepaid plan you choose will dictate which of those features you get, but Cricket Wireless is being pretty generous!

Better yet, there is no credit check at all. So if you need a phone and are worried that you credit score isn’t up to snuff, don’t worry. Cricket Wireless may be the choice for you.

Cricket Wireless Review – The Cons

Cricket Wireless has a lot of phones but some of them are more expensive than at the traditional cell phone providers like Verizon Wireless or AT&T.

I bought a Blackberry for my husband and saw that I spent a little more on it than Verizon has it advertised for.

After doing some digging, I discovered that Verizon actually loses money on the phones themselves because they know that they’ll sign you to a 24 month contract, making it back in the long run.

Cricket Wireless can’t do that (because there is no contract…). So they basically sell the phone to you for their cost and make no money in the process. So the slightly higher price is justified because there isn’t a contract.

Cricket Wireless Review – Payment Options

Because there is no contract with Cricket Wireless, there are a few different ways that you can pay your prepaid cell phone bill.

Cricket Wireless offers customers the option to pay with a credit or debit card. You can make payments by phone with a credit or debit card, but you’ll be charged an additional 2 dollar processing fee to do so. You can also pay in cash at an authorized Cricket Wireless Dealer.

Cricket Wireless Review – Data, Text and Picture Messaging

Cricket Wireless offers:

Unlimited text messaging with all plans
Picture messaging is also usually included, but is determined by the plan you choose
Data Plans are given on monthly plans of 45 dollars or more. That’s unlimited mobile web. PAYgo plans are a little different. With those, you pay per day.

Pretty feature rich, huh?

Cricket Wireless Review – Summary

All in all, Cricket Wireless is a pretty rock solid company. I haven’t had any problems with my coverage or plan. My phone did suffer a small mishap (aka. I dropped it in the sink) but they took care of it. I like my plan and its features…
